Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Leonardo DiCaprio bring to life the tale of legendary American frontiersman Hugh Glass who on a fur trapping expedition in 1820s was severely mauled by a bear and left for dead by some of his team members but survived and trekked back through the impassable terrain, wilderness, cruel climate, hostile native tribes with grit and determination to survive and take revenge from the person who has taken away the most valuable thing from him. Iñárritu's highly direction, Lubezki's breathtaking cinematography and most importantly, Leonardo DiCarpio's powerhouse performance turns this celluloid thriller into a visceral experience making the viewers become part of the protagonist's torturous ordeal, his survival and his final redemption. Leonardo DiCaprio's almost insane commitment to get into the skin of the character and deliver such a realistic performance definitely makes him the most eligible contender for this year's Academy Award an The Revenant a must watch for every cinema lover.
