Wax Resist Art For Kids
Coloring with different types of colors to create an awesome look is the art of MIXED COLOR PAINTING. One of the type is WAX RESIST . This type of art is very easy to create with little kids and so very addictive at the same time. There are different techniques of Wax Resist also, few of which I will demonstrate in this post. Required: Plain thick paper of any color (White/yellow/black) or paper plateWax crayonsWhite wax candle can also be usedWater colorsBrushWater Step 1: Draw any desired pattern with either matching wax crayon on the paper - white on white, yellow on yellow, black on black - or opposite color as per your desired output. Wax Resist Balloons In this, I drew balloons with white crayon on white paper plate. Step 2: Dilute the water color and swipe with brush on the paper.. to discover the design you just made. Even the kids can color it. They will love to create a magic painting (as the design was not visible ;) ) Wax Resist Flower In these, I have used single color, as this was my first attempt. So kept it simple and single color. Different colored balloons can be made and a bunch of different colored flowers, as we get a hang on the consistency of dilution of water color. Next the little one wanted to create a nature scene, so we progressed to multi-color painting. I drew trees, grass, sun etc. details with yellow crayon, so that he can color accordingly. Wax Resist Painting Not very neat though, but 3-year old had fun and understood the different colors in the nature .. win-win ;) Next we took it to higher level. I outlined few buildings and the iconic BURJ KHALIFA, which he colored black with crayons. Then he filled in the sky with shades of yellow and orange with diluted water colors, of course I guided him through. But proud to say he colored all on his own . See the video of him coloring. Wax Resist Painting by 4-year old Isn't it amazing?? The best part of this technique is diluted water color doesn't disturb the wax details, so even if the brush strokes go over it, it won't effect. Did you notice the different techniques of wax resist art I just showed? So simple and unique. Technique 1: We just outlined with crayon and filled with single diluted water color.Technique 2: We outlined with crayon but used multiple water colors filling in details.Technique 3: Another is we filled details/objects with crayons and colored the background with water colors. What are you waiting for? Go and create some superb master pieces with your little one(s).
