After launching its new smartphones under the Redmi Note and Mi Mix series, Xiaomi seems to be working on a new genre in smartphones that has only been explored by Razer until now. The Chinese manufacturer is now all set to launch a gaming smartphone dubbed Xiaomi Black Shark. The device is slated to launch on April 13 in Beijing, China. According to the recent reports, Xiaomi has already sent out the media invites for the unveiling event of the Black Shark. Xiaomi Black Shark Gaming Smartphone: Rumoured Specs and Features The Xiaomi Black Shark was first teased on Weibo, and was then followed by a leaked AnTuTu listing. It revealed some of the key specifications of the upcoming gaming-ready smartphone. According to the leaked AnTuTu listing, the phone is expected to come powered by a Snapdragon 845 clubbed with 8GB of RAM, this combination looks powerful enough to cater gaming needs on a smartphone. The RAM capacity will ensure that the SoC has enough backing to deliver high performance needed for gaming. Of course, when it comes to gaming, the screen also plays a major role for showing those graphics clearly at a higher refresh rate and more sync so that there is no screen tear when playing games. Simultaneously, it also depends on the game developers if their game for mobile is equipped to offer that kind of frame rate to match the hardware and screen refresh rate. As for the Xiaomi Black Shark, the phone is expected to comes with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160×1080 pixels resolution. The rear panel on the phone will also be showcasing the Xiaomi’s Black Shark branding. A report from GizmoChina also hinted that the phone could launch in two variants – 6GB RAM/128GB Storage and 8GB RAM/256GB Storage. The battery on the phone will be equipped with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charge support. Besides, on the software front, it could run Android 8.0 Oreo with Google’s Project Treble support for a continued update cycle. Moreover, Xiaomi has also revealed that Black Shark smartphone will come with ‘Shark Space’ that is the company’s take on Game Centre app on Apple’s iOS. Xiaomi Blackshark runs Android 8.0 Oreo. The smartphone has a 6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. It has dual 12MP rear cameras with an LED flash and an 8MP front-facing camera. The device is powered by a 2.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 845 processor and 8GB RAM. It has 32GB internal storage with no scope for further expansion. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The device is powered by a Li-Ion 4,000mAh battery. Xiaomi Black Shark Gaming Smartphone: Expected Price in India Being a Xiaomi smartphone, the Black Shark is expected to not come with a hefty price tag. Unlike the Razer Phone, this one won’t burn a hole in buyer’s pocket. We can expect Xiaomi’s Black Shark to launch under the 40k price segment.
